Seven bands played in a venue that could barely hold all the band members combined. Downstairs, Brigade Prince Bar and Restaurant served well as the green room and meet-and-greet area. Fully furnished with a solitary beer-drinking uncle quietly eating his peanuts while watching IPL highlights.
The sound was total shite, not one single guitar solo was heard, but the energy was unmatched as usual. Was refreshing to see mostly new young faces in the crowd for a change, as opposed to the familiar old wrinkled ones we’re so used to. There is hope that the kids are alright.
▶ Watch on InstagramMost of them came to watch their friend’s band play Avenged Sevenfold covers, but who cares as long as they’re here. One lead singer asked the crowd “Is it ok if I take my shirt off?”, then got full shy and said he’d take it off in the next song. He never did.
Towards the last few bands the room got hotter than a Japanese onsen. The crowd was sharing three oxygen molecules amongst the 65+ people packed into the venue. Thankfully nobody died and everyone stayed until the end.
Don’t ever let me catch you complaining about a gig like this. If the music does not entertain you, the people will. One underground gig like this has more energy and character than all of Lollapalooza combined. See you at the next one!
